Carson spent much of the morning chasing down blood donors on top of his other work. He needed enough to get Kate into surgery so that they could get her stable enough to use the healing machine on her. It was nearly lunch by the time he was ready to start.
He, Perna, and two of the other Hoffan surgeons worked quickly as they pulled Kate out of stasis. The first thing to be done was to make sure she wasn't going to die of blood loss and shock. Immediately afterward, they rushed her into surgery to repair the wounds she'd received during the attack. That took another several hours.
Once they were out of surgery, Carson scrubbed up and headed for his office to take a rest and deal with the necessary record keeping. He was drained by the whole ordeal, but Kate would live. They'd get her under the healing machine once she came out of recovery. She might even be awake by late afternoon.
