Day Nine, Morning, Athos

John stepped through the gate close after Teyla, and walked ahead and to the side a little to give the rest of the people space to pass through. It was a bright, clear day, and at first glance there didn't seem to be any signs of trouble. Numerous Athosians were passing by, and after a moment Chuck stepped through and stopped near John. Jackson was next, watching the Athosians carefully and looking far more used to the experience than John would have expected. He caught Ruiz watching Jackson, too, and John spared a moment to be glad she didn't seem to have trouble with him being along.

After a minute, everyone was through and the gate shut down. Schneider and DeFelice headed at a right angle to the gate, towards a small wooded hill they could watch the gate from, while the Athosians were already heading for the village. John jogged a little to catch up with Teyla and Halling, waving the other Earthlings along behind him.

Slowing back to a walk, he said to the others, "I expect this to look not too different than a village that was hit by an airstrike. The darts were using their energy weapons to drive people out of the tents, but hopefully the fires didn't spread too much."
