Day 52 - Genii Homeworld - Team Sheppard, Harmless Space Amish

Jan 25, 2008 19:37

By some stroke of luck, no emergencies had suddenly popped up, which meant that Team Sheppard was finally going to get a chance to head off-world again. John couldn't have been happier, because watching the other teams head out while he kept getting stuck in the city because some stupid alien was trying to eat the place was starting to get annoying. Everything was set this time, though. They had an actual mission plan, complete with a list of possible trade items to discuss, and unlike the last few missions this was a world Teyla was very familiar with. Friendly natives who didn't try to shoot anyone with grey hair would be nice, and supposedly these Genii people had something like coffee. Maybe that would make McKay stop bitching.

John had pulled McKay out of the labs, not about to let him get away with going on only the scientifically interesting missions. The lure of coffee had made the job a lot easier. The two of them had started getting ready early, because John wanted to make sure Rodney was ready. He'd given him a nine-mil, and grinned when Rodney had checked the safety and chamber like he was supposed to - it'd taken enough practice to get that habit drilled in. He was also wearing a tac vest, and for all the grumbling about weight there hadn't been too much complaint, since Rodney rather liked the idea of (a) being bullet-proof ('Bullet-proof-ish,' John had felt compelled to correct) and (b) having space for extra power bars.

"All right," John said as they waited for the rest of the team. "This should be fun."
