Title: Family
Author: ????
Recipient:
cobaltink Prompt Used: Portrait (it digresses a little from there but... yeah. XD
Summary: The Freedom Fighters think about why Jet's thier leader
Rating: PG, maybe PG-13
Spoilers/Warnings for: nothing!!
Author's Notes: Oh man... sorry this is so late!!! But beyond that... I hope you enjoy! :)
The Freedom Fighters would follow Jet anywhere. And there was a reason. He was their inspiration. He found them after they lost something, they lost everything, and gave them something to hold on to. The Freedom Fighters were more than just a band of child warriors- they were a family, and that was something far better than anything anyone else could offer them. They had all had their original family taken away, harshly, brutally and horribly stripped from them, and they were hurting.
But then Jet came. He found them, and he looked after them, and he cared for them. And they considered themselves lucky to still have a family in this time when the Fire Nation ruled. And in some ways, they were all more of a real family to each other than their original families had been, because they all knew the same pain. They had all gone through the same horrors.
And Jet was their leader because he was the portrait of all of them. He comforted them when they were sad, cheered them on when they were happy, and became angry when someone tried to hurt them again. He went through it all with them. They all saw some of themselves in him, and they saw what they could become, and he saw some of him in all of his freedom fighters. And that's why Jet was their leader. That's why they would follow him anywhere. Because in many ways… he was a part of them.
Title: Like Mother, Like Daughter
Author: ????
Recipient:
cobaltink Prompt Used: not everyone is a saint
Summary: There's more of Ursa in Azula than anyone wants to admit
Rating: PG
Spoilers/Warnings for: nothing!!
Author's Notes: Well, this Ursa doesn't entirely fit in my headcanon, but I started writing the fic, and it just kind of flowed out... anywho, again, hope you enjoy!
Azula was more like her mother than she would ever know.
Ozai wasn't really surprised when Ursa offered to kill Azulon to save her son. He knew that she practically needed her son to live. She loved Zuko as her son, but there was more to it than that. She also loved the pure power that came with being part of the royal family.
She would never show anyone now, but he saw her rise through the Fire Nation court before they were both married. She saw her do whatever she considered necessary to gain status. It's why he married her- not because he loved her, he'd never loved anyone in his life. No, it was because when they were married, they had said their vows, and everything was finalized, he recognized the look in her eyes. It matched his own.
Simply put, Ursa loved power. She wasn't a terrible person per se. She wasn't the type to torture turtle ducks for fun, like her daughter did. But she was deviou s. She knew just what she wanted, and just how to get it. And she did. And she grew angry when she didn't get her way. Those who crossed her, or tried to stop her realized that while it's true that not everyone is a saint, that woman… she could be the devil.
Azula was much more like her mother than she would ever know.
Title: Should Have Known
Author: ????
Recipient:
cobaltink Prompt Used: her heart knew she was falling before her head did
Summary: Toph is rather disappointed with herself for not having understood her feelings for Sokka sooner
Rating: PG
Spoilers/Warnings for: nothing!!
Author's Notes: So uh... while this is Tokka, there's also a little bit of Sukka in here too... but it barely touches on it. I hope it's okay...
She later supposed she should have known when she couldn't stop thinking about him at night. But no- she just assumed it was because he was the leader and he would be leading them all into battle eventually, so it was just natural that she would think about him. She later supposed she should have known when she could=2 0barely talk- barely breathe around him in ways that she's never experienced before. But no- she just figured she was developing allergies or something, and simply became annoyed at the inconvenience. Toph later supposed that she should have known when she saw Sokka with Suki and would feel inexplicably sad and upset for literally days afterwards. But… well, she didn't attribute that to anything. She just ignored it… as much as she could.
When Toph finally realized that she loved Sokka though, it didn't come as much of a surprise. It was almost as if she already knew. And she just sighed, and mentally smacked herself for not really recognizing it sooner, almost like a teacher scolding a student. It almost seemed like her heart had known she was falling in love the whole time and she thought it was really kind of sad it took this long for her head to catch up.
Title: Understanding
Author: ????
Recipient:
cobaltink Prompt Used: portrait
Summary: Sokka wants to draw Toph, and she doesn't get why.
Rating: G
Spoilers/Warnings for: nothing!!
Author's Notes: Um, this is written from Katara's first person, just in case it's not clear, or in case I totally screwed it up... XD
Toph is quite possibly the best Earthbender in the world. She's the daughter of one of the world's wealthiest families. She's extremely smart, even though she annoys the hell out of me occasionally. She's really everything a guy could want in a girl. She's even managed to conquer her one great obstacle- her blindness- and turn it into an advantage for herself over anyone who crosses her. Literally, she's practically perfect.
But she still has trouble understanding why my brother wants to try to draw her when she can't see it at the end.
