lately....
well, i've not posted an entry since new year's. i don't know why. i just haven't gotten around to it. i guess it's just because i've been so busy. i had to organize the literary meet this year to be hosted at SHS. that was a feat in itself. i had never done that before. getting judges, organizing rooms for competitions, communicating constantly with eight other schools in our region, etc... it was a lot of work and a LOT of stress. however, the day turned out well. it was a smooth day, thank goodness! also, the last couple of months i've been working with the spring one-act "Voices From High School." i think it's the best play i've worked with at SHS. it has a fifteen-member cast. i have an awesome student assistant director. we did our first performance in front of people yesterday. it was a working rehearsal in front of my drama II class. it went well. i videoed it, and i'll get them to view themselves tomorrow at rehearsal. we've got some polishing to do before performing it before a real audience on tuesday night at SHS and next friday for the actual festival. i'm very proud of all of them. they've worked hard and accomplished a lot. for the most part, they've been really open to direction and suggestions, and many of them have come up with really creative ideas of their own to add to the play. i am pretty confident that it will turn out well. i really want them to place. last year we got first runner-up. i hope to do as well, if not better, this year. they certainly deserve it. i love the kids i have in this play. most of them i'm very protective of and i want them to be happy and have every opportunity for new experiences. i think they're so very talented. on other fronts, i'm taking my third class for my Ed.S. degree this semester, and it's proving to be a lot of damned busy work. i've just got to jump through these hoops in order to get this piece of paper to increase my salary. let's see. what else is going on? oh, i got a bunch of stuff from my grandmother's house lately. we're cleaning out the house in preparation to sell it. i must admit that bothers me. i grew up in that house. i had toyed with the notion of buying it and having it as rental property, but i'm so busy with school and going to school that i wouldn't have time to fool with that stuff, so i just had to let go of it and say "just sell it." we're nearing spring break. we've got one more week of school, and then we're out for a week. we all need it. the kids are exhausted, and i'm worn out myself. i don't have any plans for the break. i may sneak off to the beach if i can find someone who is available to go. i know i'm going to do some heavy cleaning in my house, and i've got some yard work to do, too. after the break, we'll have 7 weeks of school left. this school year has flown by. at the beginning of the year, it seemed as though we had forever until we were out for summer, but it came so quickly. it seems as if the older i get, the faster the years go by. before i know it, it'll be christmas again. well, i guess i've rambled enough here. i hope everyone is doing well.
