http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20070409/sc_livescience/newharddrivesholdaterabyteofdata DJs and Audiophiles of the world rejoice! Previously to get to a terabyte you would have to buy multiple hard drives. Now they say that the technology exists not only to make a single terabite HD but also a 5T HD and one day a 50T HD (the 50T would be able to hold approxiamtely a centuries worth of music....we are talking a century in time measurements (how ever many minutes a century is)which would then allow DJs to store their whole Music Collection on a Hard Drive, thus easying not only storage issues but also organization issues and portability. Gone will be the days of DJs culling their music because the collection has become to large to transport. Now when at the club and someone requests that ultra-rare old school song, with a few flicks of your fingers you will be able to play it instead of writing it down for next time.
I am getting all warm and fuzzy just thinging about it simply because I know that living in Japan I will be able to get it not only first but cheap too...you could buy enough HDs to make a Terabyte for about 500...they said the Terabyte will retail for 500 which means it might be cheaper here (since you know they make a lot of em here!) I can't wait for the 5 and even 50 Tearbyte...My music collection is aching to be saved from my children.
