Ah, Im glad you like him. Don't you think he is big enough for you to ride when you finally make it up here? Im quite sure he is. Penella22 is very small as well and she hopefully will be visiting again soon. I think Leah may be a bit upset that I didn't get a horse big enough for her to ride but I had to carefully weigh the situation. she only has one more yr of college and then will be busy starting her life. Dillen will be around for many yrs for me to ride with. As healthy as this pony appears to be he will likely outlive me. The farrier was very impressed with him.
Oh, know what. I very carefully measured Echo yesterday for the first time ever. I had to know. Everyone who sees her in person remarks how big she is, everyone who sees pics online remarks what a nice little horse she is. Now, I even got out my level and laid it across her withers so I knew I was level. I will measure again when KEnny is here to help me just to be sure this weekend. BUT... I was quite careful and don't expect there to be much of a change. I get 65 1/2 inches. There is just no way I am more than an inch off. So she is around 16 hands, maybe a bit more. I guess Penella22 was right, she said the first time she met her she had to be at least 16 hands.
Maybe she is just a horse who looks small in pictures you think? I've been very curious lately about it. I see Kate standing next to Lucy, and knowing she is what, 16.1 or something, and knew Echo has to be taller than I had thought. Im almost 5'11", I'll have Kenny take a pic of me standing next to her on level ground and maybe that will give a better idea.
She is plump, I know. To myself and anyone else who sees her besides the vet and farrier. For whatever reasons they both still say she is fine. She is NOT fine, she is fat! Although when longeing her yesterday and she is trotting I can see ribs. Don't worry, Im not going to start throwing the feed to her. I do realize she is fat. And EVERY Canadian Ive ever seen seems to be. I have never found a way to keep her slim and trim or her mother either.
