Summary: Edge isn't as much help as Rydia might like.
"How long have we been doing this?" Edge asked, heaving another rock into the growing pile at the back of the village.
"Two hours." Rydia stretched to relieve aching muscles in her back, ignoring Edge's stare that predictably moved downward from her face.
"Let's take a break," he suggested. "We brought lunch, and there's a nice place right over there." He gestured vaguely at a large, sun-drenched patch of the dense grass that had sprung up amid, around, and on top of the ruins of her village, making it look as though it had been abandoned decades ago instead of a year or two.
Rydia bent and picked up another stone to move. "We can take a break when we're done--which will be a lot sooner if you'd help me instead of staring at my ass."
She smiled to herself at Edge's immediate and aggrieved protest.
