Summary: Epentar is empty without them.

Orha is accustomed to losses. He has watched comrades and friends die on the battlefield, lost family to the Rheuma, given up his life to the service of the throne of Yason-Roven. Yet none of those cut so deep as when Amila died. She was his Queen, yes, but he had grown up with her and Serina, and the three of them had formed a bond.

He is alone now, rebuilding Yason-Roven for Serina and for her children, while she and Calintz try to aid the rest of Efferia. Orha does what needs to be done.

Yet, at night, when he waits for sleep to claim him, he remembers how Serina would smile at the sight of a handful of wildflowers he'd brought to cheer her dull quarters, or how Amila, always so serious, might be startled into a laugh by some bit of absurdity he concocted for her. He goes about his tasks more quietly each day, for without Serina, Epentar is as cheerless a prison as the grey stone building where he once guarded her.
