M15

I rode the bus home last night. It's the second time that I've done this. I was walking around school and I noticed that the M15 goes down 2nd Ave and there's a stop right by my house and I realized that I could just take it down. It was such a fun idea for some reason. Sometimes I don't want to go underground on my way home. It takes a bit longer to get home when riding the bus, but I read and looked out the window.

Yesterday on my way home from the Upper East Side I took a little nap and when I woke up I was in the Lower East Side and the first thing I saw out my window was two friends from school. This town has a lot of people in it and we always seem to run into people we know.

It's Friday night. I was meant to go to school to scan some photos, but I couldn't be bothered for some reason. So what did I do? I went to McDonalds and then came home and currently I'm watching my second hour of SUPER NANNY.

What has my life come to?

I'm having second thoughts about posting such a pathetic entry.. haha

I have a business of photography class and the two professors loved my work. I was nervous about showing them for some reason. I'm almost always nervous about it because my concepts are pretty extreme. When anyone asks what kind of photos I like to take I usually make up some generic answer because it's a bit complicated. If I feel comfortable with them a good short answer is: "I'm interested in instances where privacy is compromised in public spaces."

I think that pretty pictures are everywhere and are very easy to create. I find that I don't desire to capture a lot of tourist things or events because I know that so many others are shooting it and the world has no need for more. But I think ideas are what interests me, I like exploring the power of photography to convince.

One of my business professors, Jordan, is the Creative Director of Fast Company Magazine and he suggested along with the other professor, Susan, that I contact Exit Art, an art gallery between Midtown and Chelsea. They said to make sure to mention that Jordan made the suggestion that I show my work to the Director. I called the assistant curator and she said that they already had an open call for entries, but if I wanted I could send some .JPEGS to her email, which is more attention than the average applicant would get I suppose. I was in the best mood the day they told me to go to Exit Art. I felt a lot better about being in New York and spending so much money. I need to go to school and scan my images. I need to make slides too. asdf.

Tomorrow I'm babysitting at the Zelnick's. I don't know why I call it babysitting because I do everything. I shop, cook, drive, sit alone in the house when the family is gone, haha etc. I need to work on being more social here and having something to do on Friday night beside watching Super Nanny. SUPER NANNY?! man.

20/20 is bringing live coverage of the Hurricane. News vs. Entertainment. Reality t.v.

love,
