John found her there not a few minutes later, feeling an intense wave of serenity pass over him just by seeing her. It had been far too long since they last spoke this way and while he had little clue of what this was about... he did wonder if she would get it out of him about McKay. And he had settled with it early on that she probably would. He had wanted her to be the first to know... but many things had interfered with that and now it seemed to him, in his mind, that all of those close to him knew except her, and that really wasn't acceptable.

Sighing, he dropped down next to her, as silent as possible, and waited for her to acknowledge him.

Her lips turned up in a tiny smile as he sat down next to her. She let the moment of stillness linger, figuring they both needed the serenity it provided. She suspected it would be a difficult thing to achieve, and a desperately needed commodity in the coming future.

"John," she said finally, breaking the silence.

"Teyla," he said softly, nodding in her direction. "It's been wayy too long since we last talked like this, huh?"

"Indeed it has," she admitted. "I've missed our talks."

"Not as much as I have," he insisted, feeling an easy smile playing over his lips.

She finally opened her eyes to glance at him. "Is that so?" she asked, echoing his smile in words as well as in deed.

"It is.. but you seemed to have more.. urgent news."

He put on his listening face and inclined it towards her.

His listening face made her laugh; not that it was comical, but it struck her as absurd for some reason. Perhaps it was merely the tension that she felt in regards to what she had to tell him.

She shook her head. "No. Please, you first. You have not had the pleasure of my company or guidance for quite some time. I suspect you must be half-crazed by now. My news has waited this long; it can wait a few moments longer, yet."

He shrugged, knocking their shoulders together briefly.

"I've been good, no real complaints... I have a bar, I'm back on active.. everything goes well for Lieutenant Colonel Sheppard."

She gave him a critical look. "You are not telling me everything, John Sheppard."

John visibly twitched, shrugging again.

"I might be.. seeing someone..." So much for keeping it from her.

She smiled. "Congratulations. Might I inquire on the identity lucky woman?"

Because she had no real reason to suspect it was anyone other than a woman.

"Uh... I'd rather you didn't? It's kind of, well... it's kind of a secret."

God, that sounded retarded.

Ah. So this was the crux of the matter. The secret he had been hiding was the same type of secret as her own.

"...if it helps any, my reason for wanting to speak to you is in regards to a similar matter," she admits. "I, too, am seeing someone."

He blinked heavily at that, eyes snapping to meet hers.

"Really?"

She nodded slowly. "Yes, really. ...And I wish to know the name of the person who has caught the heart of my dearest friend?"
