So Close

My 1856 knitted opera hood is so close to being finished. If only I'd made my decision about color for the tassels and ribbons sooner, it probably would be finished. Now I'm waiting for the mail to bring my ribbon on Monday or Tuesday so best case is that I'll finish it Tuesday night. I want to wear it next Saturday so that should be fine.

Still, it's finished from the front so I couldn't resist taking a picture. Now I don't have a blank on the project in Ravelry.

Here's the lace laid flat.

The blues aren't exactly the same between the sport weight and the fingering weight yarn, but it's pretty close. After all, the original pattern does call for two different yarns so I'm sure there were slight differences in originals too. Though that's speculation on my part, I think it's a reasonable conclusion. Plus the ribbons will cover part of the lace.

That used up three balls plus a bit of yarn. Now I think I have five balls plus maybe a half left. Except for the ribbon, everything I needed for the project I had on hand so that was pleasant, especially since it was all leftovers from other projects. I always feel virtuous when I make something that depletes the materials that are sitting in boxes in the closet rather than adding to them.
