17th Century Knit Garters

I finished my 17th century knit garters. They're based on a pair at the Boston MFA. I made the pattern based on the pictures on their website.

They took just about ten months to make, but except for the first three weeks and the last week or so, they were never a primary project. Mostly they rode around in my purse, and I worked on them while riding in the car or hanging out at kids' birthday parties or whatever. Each garter has a thousand rows of knitting in it, knit in the round on two needles with a stockinette pattern on a reverse stockinette ground. The ends are thread-wrapped beads with three tassels.

I have a Ravelry page for the project, and I will put the pattern in Ravelry. It will really just be the series of charts for the motifs.
