o_o Well, good to see my hometown rang you in kindly.
Oakland is a really beautiful area. If I do get into Pitt next semester, I'm definitely moving again. There are some really great parks breaking up the urbanism in that area.
But Boston's pretty cool, so I can't fault you for choosing it over Pittsburgh. EXCEPT THAT I TOTALLY WILL.
Oakland is amazing. We can't believe how cheap the advertised rents are - pretty much the same as what we're paying out in the ATL suburbs. I am so confused right now. I've been both broke and lonely for the last several years and now I get to be rid of one of those two things. :( Boston does indeed possess coolness but it's the people we met that made us so happy there.
i mean. the rent difference here could easily rack up to 5k/year, which is about pre-tax $3/hour. It is entirely possible that we could cover that by means of the jobs that are available in Boston but augh augh augh. And even if I might get a better hourly rate in Boston than Pittsburgh M probably wouldn't.
We're here til Friday morning or maaaaybe Saturday. So confuse.
Go where your heart takes you! [Triumphant fist!] Seriously, Boston sounds wonderful. Even if it wound up not working out, it sounds like it would be a great experience regardless. Whatever you wind up deciding, I hope it works out!
By the way, I'm working through Thursday night into Friday morning, but if you do decide to stay until Saturday and are interested in meeting up, I'm free Friday evening. No biggie if you're not. I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your stay regardless!
Back down south now (at home, briefly, going down to Tampa to see the in-laws in the morning). Sorry I missed you - I know your midweeks are awful :( We will be back around a fair bit though; annual pilgrimages were on M's list of demands, and Pittsburgh is completely beautiful (WHY SO VERTICAL, WHY).
There's no need to apologize. :) It's best you guys got to know the area on your own anyway, rather than with the bias of somebody who lives there anyway. When you guys do visit again, feel free to give me a ring anytime. I wouldn't mind putting you guys up for a few nights to save you some hotel expenses.
P.S. - IT'S VERTICAL TO KEEP YOU IN SHAPE. Pittsburgh is pretty damn hilly, though. Oakland has a particularly famous one nicknamed "cardiac hill" because of its steep gradient.
Hey, we were with some very biased people in Boston, and even then Boston is not as damn pretty as Pittsburgh. ;_; We had a lovely time - went to Phipps Conservatory and the Warhol museum, walked all around Oakland, ate amazing pizza.
IA on the keeping in shape! I used to live in Leeds (lol, Fly moved there a few years after I left) which is similarly steep, and I have NEVER BEEN THINNER.
