scattershot thoughts

I was going to write this up yesterday, but ended up dropping from exhaustion at nearly 5 am after skimming the last week's worth of livejournal (sticking to personal journals and skipping all the communities (as I'll probably be doing until end of quarter) because otherwise it would have been impossible -- it was still 260+ entries). Not that I' ( Read more... )

Yeah, this says it all. After watching the finale a third time, I have to say I don't think I'd really have it any other way. (Which is not what I said after having only seen it once.)

Well, I guess I wouldn't have had Andy or Ash die...

What did you say after having only seen it once?

I was a lot more critical. I thought the deal with the devil was predictable and overdone. I thought the YED's acting in both parts was a bit over-dramatic. I thought the Buffy-esque allusions were a bit too obvious. I felt like people would view John's return as groan-worthy and without proper explanation. I thought evil Ava's acting was bad...

I dunno, it was weird. I was *super*-critical when I first saw both parts. But the second view softened me up a lot, and finally on the third viewing (with everybody else at Stanford), it was actually very very satisfying. And now I love the finale. Even stupid, stupid Dean. I admit, there are some rationalizations in my mind (like how Bobby just happened to know about the abandoned ghost town just from hearing "a bell" and that opening the gate was probably the first step on the to-do list for the chosen child, since anyone could have put a gun barrel in a hole).

I hope Meg comes back for some revenge. Maybe she'll still want Sam. After all, there is a "laundry list" of tasks to be

*grin* I tend to opt not to be critical in cases like this.

It's funny, I was actually certain that Bobby would recognize the town upon mention of the bell, as I suspect most research-based hunters worth their salt would have heard of it, and Bobby's been around long enough and is enough of a lore specialist that I would've been surprised if he hadn't known.

I agree, opening the gate was clearly a first step, the release of the demonic army. I think the chosen child is then meant to be the commander of that army.

I wasn't a huge fan of Meg-the-actress, but it would certainly make sense for the demon-the-was-Meg to want revenge, and perhaps also Sam.

Well, and who wouldn't want Sam? :)

The scene with Dean and Bobby was by far my favorite of the episode. Jim Beaver and Jensen Ackles both did such amazing work.

I definitely hope we see lots more of both Bobby and Ellen next year. They've both become integral parts of the SPN universe for me. Especially Bobby, whom I just love more every time I see him.

My friends and I want a Bobby and Ellen spin-off so we can see their adventures during the war at the same time we watch the Winchesters.

Of course, crossovers would be well-written and often.
