Finally, I manage to finish writing up these recs.
Last Minute Trade by
shrift and
nestra. Casey/Danny, NC-17. Shrift and Nestra (in this case together, but often separately) have collectively written a significant chunk of the Sports Night fanfiction I've read (and all of their fics are well worth reading). Last Minute Trade takes the events of one particular episode as its point of departure and convincingly expands upon the possible logic behind and the (initially internal) consequences of Casey's actions, as he slowly realizes something that perhaps he should have noticed long before.
Baltimore Chop by Celli Lane & Annie Lee. Casey/Danny, NC-17. Quirky and sweet and cute in a very Danny and Casey way. Light-hearted and charming and full of banter. Oh, and deliciously, adorably, playfully hot.
The Memory of Hurts by Sinead. Danny/Casey, almost certainly NC-17. Long and plotty and full of the well-paced tension of increasing attraction and awareness and angst. The POV shifts back and forth between them, but in a fairly smooth and deliberate way. And when the build finally breaks, it sings so sweet and so hot. And then, in a burst of realism and with an overlay of melancholy that reminds me of the last parts of Sports Night, the ones where things are up in the air and moving towards desperate, they remain broken afterward for quite some time, until the final, perfect resolution. Sinead's other Sports Night fics are also wonderful.
Tin Men by Punk. Casey/Danny, PG. Hilarious, charming, happy, fun fluff.
Visual Aid by Charlemagne. Casey/Dan. The tight, complex plotting of this fic makes it extremely compelling. Casey sees a photo of Dan as part of an art showing, and it piques his (and our) curiosity. Clever setup, great build and tension, all-around brilliant. Charlemagne's
Gynecology is also fabulous -- a bit more light-hearted, adorable and hot.
Being an Anchor by Lanning Cook. Dan/Casey, almost certainly NC-17. By far the darkest fic here, and quite possibly one of the darkest I've ever read. Long, extremely intense, but correspondingly excellent.
Something But Nothing Like a Thing by Nifra Idril. Casey/Dan, maybe PGish. Adorable, funny, clever, fabulous. Perfect banter. I am not kidding.
Two-Player Game by Bone. Dan/Stacy/Casey. Let's just say that Y Tu Mama Tambien was worth watching simply for the scorching hot threesome that was produced by the hot woman enticing two male best friends into sex. This lacks the angst of that movie, being instead simply fun and hot and a relatively uncomplicated and positive sense of discovery. Bone's
The Lost Boys (Casey/Danny) is similarly darned hot, with the fun of male bonding to boot.
Dan & Casey Get Drunk in Vancouver by Scrunchy/
flipfloptwurl. Sports Night/Supernatural RPS. Dan, Casey, Jared, Jensen, Gen, PG-13. Completely off-the-charts frothy and hilarious and adorable, sheer cracky goodness like State Fair chocolate-covered cheesecake on a stick. Yay!
