Supernatural Batch 2: Tequila Cotton Candy
A collection that features "less angst" -- some gen, some het, some crack, some pure slashy fun.
This batch is dedicated to shrift and nestra's Polyamorous Recommendations, from which the first two of this week's fic recs were drawn. They sadly appear to be avoiding 'cest in this fandom, so they may not appreciate all of the other recs, but they have some great gen/het recs up. If I had to point to one single website as the one most influential in drawing me into fandom, that one would have to be it. Thank you, farwing, for mentioning it to me in the first place.
Also? When putting together this last list, it almost became a dozen recs. But then I realized that over half of them came from astolat's list of recs. So I will omit those and just tell you to go read the stuff she's rec'd, because it's by and large fabulous! Though some of them may well show up in the "more angst" batch I've got in mind to post soon, or in future themed batches. On the lighter front, I would particularly point out estrella30's Triple Dog Dare, because I know how much at least two of you enjoyed the pranking in "Hell House."
Sasparilla Boots (Other Myths About One-Night Stands That Aren't True and the rest of the Other Myths That Aren't True series by regala-electra. Dean/Faith (SPN/Buffyverse), NC-17, holy mother-of-god hot. The series is apparently not yet finished, which makes me very happy, but the parts are quite satisfying as is -- the structure is definitely episodic rather than one long fic. I'm not sure it's possible to find het more appealing than the prickly, banter-y hotness and semi-reluctant connection that is Dean and Faith.
Grandcars by derryderrydown. Metallicar/Truckzilla. This may be the most hilarious, lunatic, charming, brilliant crack ever. [I will also note here that Derry's School Days is totally adorable (very gen), and Five Superheroes Dean Winchester Never Slept With (het and slash, only the hint of 'cest) makes want a lot more of DC Universe + Supernatural, oh yes.]
Miami by astolat. Sam/ofc, Dean/Sam (incest warning). I know I'm sort of like a broken record here, but I can't seem to help it. This fic is much less angsty than "Under Hill," and contains lots and lots of sex in public, including some het and a tiny bit of femslash. Insanely, wickedly fun and hot.
here between your hips (this is where I wanna live) by keepaofthecheez. Sam/Dean, NC-17 (incest and underage warning -- Sam's 15). Pure, scorchingly hot PWP first time. I have my doubts about the believability (the Dean in my head seems unlikely to be so completely angst-free about this), but the incredible searing heat of this fic transcends such quibbles.
Bargains by marinarusalka. PG-13 for swearing, completely gen. On the other side of the believability scale, this fic in five parts (link goes to Part 1) has excellent plot (I am a sucker for this particular conflict element), spot-on amusing dialogue, good pacing, and a wonderfully snarky and convincing Dean POV voice. Reads like an episode, and I don't say that lightly.
Note to self: I need some Supernatural icons. Preferably soon, because apparently I can't stop talking about it.
