i have setup Archlinux on my toshiba but the acpi=off doesnt allow me to use the intel drivers. Do you know if there is a fix instead of a work around with this acpi problem?

O and thnx for the ethernet driver. I thought i was gonna have to use wifi(which worked when i tried the 10.04 ubuntu beta and when i installed Arch)

I wish I did! Unfortunately, I'm still working with acpi=off and all its assorted inconveniences.

I tried installing Arch Linux this morning from a cd, but I got error messages saying that it couldn't find the device, so I left it without putting up a fight.

I wish I could help. If you do find a fix rather than a workaround, please let me know. I'm glad at least the ethernet driver was of use to you.

-hey i found a fix for ubuntu and the toshiba e205's acpi problem. This is the link for the fix:

http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9370476#post9370476

-If you want to do it for Archlinux just get the same patch from the link or from the 75th comment from this page and compile it into a kernel usin abs:

Well, except now I've had three occasions this afternoon on which the computer simply froze and refused to unfreeze, and I've lost material I was working on from having to shut down manually with the power button. This is unacceptable.
