Here are the first couple, grouped into about 6 or 7 a post so as not to totally kill the servers.
This is a sign at the Kansai Airport for the elevators. I think the meaning is pretty evident, but we were so punchy at that point that we thought it was pretty funny.
A shopping arcade in Kyoto. We went into this one later, and I actually found a nice looking shirt and some socks in there later. Turns out shopping for clothes in Japan is very difficult for a Westerner built like me.
Yours truly at a Soba restaurant down the street from the ryokan where we stayed. The owner was a friend of our hostess, so I ended up delivering her salutations in (somewhat clumsy) Japanese when we got back. Note the maneki neko behind me.
Mom and I at the same restaurant, taken by one of the waitresses. One thing we had to get used to was that they don't tip in Japan, which was an odd concept for us to wrap our heads around. There was also a weird show on the television behind us that involved what I guess are celebrities working with animals, and naturally hilarity ensues.
View from the sight of a watchtower at Nijo Castle (site of the Nightengale Floor I mentioned previously). They didn't let us take any pictures in the castle itself, but we got some outside of it.
Turns out that there's an International Manga Museum in Kyoto, so we just had to take a picture of me there. That was a pretty cool place, as you had all sorts of people just sitting around reading and several exhibitions, including a American-wince-inducing one about the Kyoto Agreement (that the U.S. refused to sign way back when).
And Tommy Lee Jones, The Boss! This was so random that we had to snap a picture. On the note, I'm going to miss all those canned coffees, since they were actually decent (unlike the overpriced Starbucks crap here) and the machines are everywhere.
