So today at work we had someone call in who didn't like the answer that I gave her so she asked to speak to someone "with more seniority."
Bitch, I am the most senior person in my department.
But I put her through to my boss and he told her the exact same thing. Didn't find out if she wanted to speak to someone higher than him too. Wouldn't surprise me if she tried to get to the CEO himself.
And guess what? Even in the extremely unlikely event she did get him it would still be the exact same answer.
I was a little surprised at how pissed off someone calling my competence into question made me. I think it also speaks well for me that I'm good enough at compartmentalization to stay unscrupulously polite and friendly sounding even if my actual feelings on the matter are more along the lines of "eat shit and die."
On more positive notes, our boss asked us to compile a list of things we want to improve on the site. I came up with half a dozen off the top of my head that I don't think would be too hard to do (one of them is literally "change the color of the button"). And would probably prevent about 50% of the calls we get a day.
Now whether we can actually get them implemented is another question.
