Yoshi, I'll Miss You

Jul 08, 2011 12:34

My parents and I decided to put Yoshi, our dog of 13 years, to sleep today. I spent most of last night sitting next to and petting him, since he couldn't move and breathing heavily.

We knew he didn't have long let since he was 13 years old, but he was amblimg along everyday until yesterday. He just couldn't get on his feet anymore and just sat in his corner looking at us sadly. You could see in his eyes that he wanted to come over to us, but his body would have none of it. When he tried to get a drink of water, he fell over and just laid there, and it just broke my heart.

I didn't think he would have lasted the night since every couple of hour or so I would hear him cry. When his condition didn't get better, we decided it was better to not let him suffer anymore.

At least he's not suffering any more. I will always remember the day he was born andhow he only fit in the palms of my hand. He was the runt of the litter, but he managed to outlast his brothers and sisters.

Rest in peace, Yoshi, my pet «dragosaur», you guarded my tower well.
