Systemic Reaction
I don't even know where to start with this....
I had a systemic reaction to my allergy shot yesterday. It was the wierdest experience I have ever had.
I just went up to my highest bottle 1:400 but at the lowest dose, .05 Sgt Daigle gave me the injection and I swear not even a minute later it started.
First I noticed that the injection site kinda burned, but that's pretty normal so I ignored it.
Then, my tongue and throat started to feel tingly and I felt like my face was getting hot.
Then the tingly feeling spread through my face and my ears started to feel like they were swelling.
Sgt Daigle asked me if I was okay and I said "I...don't think so...?" I told him my hands were itchy, and so was my face and he rushed out to get the Doc.
They injected me with epinephren and benadryl. By that time my ears started popping and I was getting wheezy. So they rushed me into the UTR (Urgent Treatment Room).
They put me on oxygen and kept checking my blood pressure and tried to get an IV started.
First guy couldn't find a vein in my left hand and missed the vein in my right hand. God that hurt like a BITCH! So two more people started looking for veins in my left hand, left arm, right arm. What the fuck?! It cannot be that hard to find fucking veins shit.
They finally got one of our nurses who works down at Urgent Care. He found a vein in my left hand almost immediately and got the IV in easy.
Yep, the military people couldn't find a vein but this guy could. Way to go Air Force!
They also put me on an Albuterol thing. I forget what they are called.
I don't even remember what time I got my shot. The redness started to go away after the IV started and I was feeling much better. At 1615 they unhooked everything and let me go home.
I was soooo shakey from the epinephren. Man that was so weird.
So...my allergy shots are going to be delayed until the Doc can get ahold of the people down at Wilford(?) Hall who are in charge of the allergy program and find out what to do.
I'll probably just have to go back to the 1:4,000 bottle or something.
I'm feeling fine today, my arm itches and my hands are sore. :(
