Pretty Shadowscapes

☆ la la la...

Fwee, happy Sunday everyone! Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

I've been chillaxin' and feeling quite lucid this morning, despite the fact that something just outside my window woke me up in the wee hours of morning. It was a chorus of yowling, maybe of cats, though I can't be so sure. It really sounded like a bunch of animals at a gathering, and I thought maybe there was a CATS recreation going on out there! I don't think I imagined it. But who knows, I've been having some bizarre dreams lately.

The other day I dreamt I had to write a timed essay exam, but had no desk to do it on. So I was rabidly trying to write something down, standing over my dresser with pen and paper. I had thought I'd left behind my days of essay exams, so it was just a little traumatizing, lol.

card geek
So a friend of mine is a tarot reader, and she recently gave a bunch of readings at a mutual friend's dinner party. And we all had so much fun I felt like I had to get my hands on some cards! I'm not much of a reader myself, but I suppose it's the remnants of my Yugioh days - I'm a card geek at heart. I only had one deck though, and it was missing 5 cards. So last weekend I hunted around for a deck or 2 (or four...) This deck (pictured above) is my favorite of the new ones I got, and it's called the Shadowscapes Tarot. It has the most amazing and gorgeous artwork. The reviews say it can be distractingly beautiful at first, but once you start using it, you overcome this very quickly. ♥

The artist has a website here, where you can see all the cards. They're all so pretty, I can't pick a favorite...

I also got the quirky Tarot of the Magical Forest deck, which features funny little animals with large googly eyes. It might be a little freaky looking to some, but I think they're whimsical and fun, and it's got a lot of character. I especially laugh at The Chariot card, which has a tiny hedgehog driving a bunch of buggy eyed bulls. XD

☆ weiss kreuzmas
This is kind of unbelievable, but I finished my weiss_kreuzmas exchange fic a week early! I'm kind of in shock about it, since I had put it off for weeks and weeks. I was sure I was going to end up frazzled and writing right up to the deadline. (There's a good reason I don't normally do exchanges!) I remember going through that last minute panic in the only other exchange I ever did years ago for tenipuri.

Now I'm eying the Bonus Round and wondering if I should pick up another prompt. Hmm... By the way, you can write a bonus prompt, even if you didn't participate in the exchange, so I encourage all of you WK writers on my flist to take a look!

Saw it last Friday. I actually haven't read the book yet, but I think I will before the second half of the movie is released next summer. It's been sitting on my shelf for a few years now, as yet untouched. I haven't read the 6th book yet either, though I did see the movie..

Anyway, I was surprised that the line was actually very reasonable at one hour out. It was for a 6:30pm showing on Friday, so maybe a lot of the hardcore people had already seen it by then. It was still a sold-out show though. The theater was packed with just adults, and no cosplayers. X) I thought the movie was good, but it was slow and looong. Plus, I think it left a lot of unanswered questions, since I haven't read the book yet. And as always with the Potter books, it baffles me that everything always comes down upon the shoulders of Harry, Hermione and Ron. I always wonder WTF the rest of the wizarding world is doing while these three kids do all the hard work.

New Narnia preview looks amazing, though. I think the Narnia movies are visually stunning, though I do think they lack a bit of charm. I still want to see the Dawn Treader though. (*____*)

☆ tv stuff
Anyone watching The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection? I'm actually enjoying it a lot! Even though the fashions themselves don't seem to be especially amazing, I'm enjoying the format a lot, of the two houses making collections every episode. And of course, Iman is a riot. I love her!

Calvin is a pain in the ass, but he's great for the show. "I wake every morning and try to be a nice person, but by 3 o'clock, the bitch come out." Hahahahahaha! I have no idea where he was going with the nuclear explosion thing in the last episode, but I would've loved to see it. (And he was so right to ditch the face gauze idea - that was hiddy).

Merlin continues to be predictable. I'm thinking that Merlin is quite similar to a lot of comm RPs out there - plot never moves forward. I think they're afraid of changing something and actually having things be different. It's like they have a formula of what they think works, so they keep at it, rinse and repeat. But it becomes too much of a cliche and boring.

First season of Top Chef: Just Desserts is now over. I think Yigit was annoying, but probably deserved to win. And Morgan was just a jerk anyway, so all the better. I wish there was more Hubert Keller, so hopefully he'll be judging next season too!

Meanwhile, looking forward to the start of Top Chef: All Stars and the return of Carla (hootie hoo!) and the incomparable Fabio. ♥
