Back at work

Back at work, where almost everything that could go wrong, did go wrong including resignations, a mind-boggling report to write in under a week with incomplete sets of data and no way of filling them* and sundry broken items (the email server being a personal favourite).

But on the plus side, I have some young female artists in the building working on a show for the Camden Fringe and they keep asking me cool questions and I get to share links and knowledge, feeling like a Wise Woman.

And then Penny keeps reminding me why I'm a Feminist:

Faced with overwhelming resistance, the fight for the emancipation of women of all races and classes was downgraded to a politer request for middle-class, white women to be allowed to enter the workplace - as long as we continue to smile, look pretty and accept lower pay - to have sex outside marriage as long as we bow to ruthless corporate objectification, and to divorce our husbands, as long as we continue to do all the gruntwork of domestic cleaning and caring for children and the elderly, entirely for free

So we'll keep doing this, at least until our funding gets cut. Which might be soon if I don't fill in this bloody form.

Right, back to the grindstone.

* I'm just not going to ask the sexuality of our 11-13 Drama classes, or the religion of our young refugee group attendees. I consider it totally inappropriate.

feminism, work
