*Quack*

Today pogodragon once more found her way to Fleet. We headed out to explore the mysterious 'Fleet Pond' which, despite the name, is actually a lake, quite a sizeable one. Upon the lake we saw many swans, geese and ducks, plus a few moorhens and coots. There was also a heron which we saw fly in, circle and land. Oh, and I should mention what I think were martins of some sort. Not swallows nor swifts, but definitely insect hunting over the water. Talking of which we saw a number of dragonflies as well.

Once we'd completed the circuit (pausing now and then, including a sit down, which is when we saw the heron) we headed back into Fleet, parked up and went in search of a late lunch. Despite there being many likely looking other options we ended up at the local Wetherspoons "The Prince Arthur", both having a "burger and a pint", although only my pint was alcoholic due to pogodragon's driving duties.

Replete we retired to my abode where later in the evening we witnessed an awesome thunder-storm. Lots of thunder, a good deal of lightning, and in the end a near-tropical drenching of rain.

friends, fleet
