This photo of a Turkmen equestrian made me think of Marloven Hess, so I thought I'd share. You can click through to get to the poster's Flickr account.

Oh, very nice, thanks for sharing. I too can see the Marlovens doing this in competitions/games/training. Also, for some reason, the braids very much remind me of Fenis and Tdor.

Fenis was who I was thinking of!

I think we all do. In a sense, she's the epitome of a modern Marloven woman, continuing the tradition of Hadand and Tdor.

She looks to me more like Tdor and Hadand, with the braids. (Fenis has short, curly black hair.)

Indeed, the braids made me think immediately of Tdor and Hadand. But at the same time, we rarely read of them riding asGenis did, bbecause their maon task was defense - in thatsense, Fenis continues their traditions of military leadership, but modernized, by also taking on the role of offense and being equal to the men.

That's true. The girls actually always did that sort of trick, but among themselves. (And Tdor was never very good though Hadand as a girl was excellent.)

I thought they might, but as it was off scene, only now is it finally confirmed for me, so thanks for that!
I assumed Hadand was better with horses because of how she died.

Yeah--she assumed she had her girlhood ease and flexibility, which was not true, and wouldn't have mattered but she was riding on ice.
