Sometimes people don't get the point...

I realized after a binge of trying to challenge peoples thinking that I'm a true patriot.

It's not about flag waving, costume wearing, rally attending, what side you're own, what you believe is the perfect way to run government, who should be in or out based on race or all the other shit that doesn't matter.

It's about being able to look at the neighbors you dislike and knowing that in a bind, you'd give them the chance to redeem themselves and extend the hand of forgiveness. It's about knowing that the most important thing isn't who's right or wrong but sticking your neck out to try to do it right because everyone benefits. It's not about not ranting, raving, hating, or condemning the people you disagree with but trying hard to swallow your pride and compromise because nothing in life stands still.

I think I get why our framers were really nervous about the American Government they were setting up. People can fuck it up something thorough just by stopping in their tracks and refusing to move. United we stand, divided we fall. I can't think of nothing more humiliating and embarrassing that what our country looks like now. Not the recession or depression but the bickering. Sure we're going to fight since several million opinions exist and everyone's is right but I truly believe that at the core people have collapsed into nothing more deep than baseless rivalry.

For all our president is doing wrong or right, I think he tries to be decent about it. I think he went in with the ideological idea that if he were calm and decent, people would respond but what he forgot is that too many of us Americans aren't calm or decent. We're sensationalists that burn to be stimulated even beyond reason. Having a strong position gives the illusion of strength and when facing the calm voice of reason that has no frills or bells, just the austerity of logic, the loudness of a strong opinion is it's only offense and it works...

For a minute.

Relatively, because nothing stands still in life, time, reality. The truth of reason will calmly show itself either to the benefit or detriment of all us. The truth doesn't care what happens - it is the truth - a reality without bias. Whether we soar or crash or burn, the truth that was denied will come out and it won't being doing campaigning or proselytizing when it says imperceptibly sometimes, "I told you so"

The challenge of life is that sometimes we don't know that truth of a situation. We stare at each other with dubious eyes but if with our mouths we bare teeth and scream, we can't hear the truth. If we, raise our hands to each other and grasp, unarmed palms together, a compromise with the faith that the person across from us isn't trying to screw us, we'll hear the unbiased truth and together we'll be wiser for it
