Yesterday ( a sad story )
I got home last night around 7. I had stopped at Lowe's for more plumbing parts.
Anyway the "Journal", our weekly paper had come and I went through it, back to front.
I got to the obits and I saw a name, common around here - Secrist. Hmm, age 24....that's sad.
Let's see - oh no - survived by wife Shawna and son Logan...
I know Shawna well. She lived here in our house for her senior year in High School... I guess that was 3-4 years ago. She was going to drop out and we convinced her to stay in. She and our son broke up and she met this other fellow and married him about 2 years ago. I like her, she's a little stick of a red headed thing with more freckles than Howdy Doody. I saw her a year ago at our other son Neil's graduation, watching her brother graduate as well.
So I go on into town to the viewing, 7-9 pm, I got there about 8. She's outside with a woman that she introduced as her mother, I'd never met her. The baby is inside with the aunt. 3 months old.
Shawna tells me her husband was found in his truck with a bullet in his head. "Maybe it was an accident". Gun in the truck. Half a case of beer gone. "We were getting ready to lose the trailer and the truck".
I don't know. Her parents are not much. Father on disability. Her brothers are ok, but they are just kids 18 & 19. She has a twin sister, also in a trailer park with a little baby.
She was pretty matter of fact about it all. Her eyes were a little damp, but she was pretty strong, just looking at where she will go from here.
I hate to see this shit. None of its my fault. In the least. But...
