I fail to see why people perpetually want to draw lines.
The whole supposed Voltaire quotation "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it" is part of the whole thing.
One cannot say if you want your speech to be free, then you cannot limit anyone else's. Nothing's that black and white. Hatespeech is a crime. Child porn is wrong. There are limits. There are always limits. It's always more complicated with that - even if it makes your pretty little head hurt, it's more complicated than a single bullet point.
It's this bizarre need to drag everything down to a single sentence definition, as if that gives it reality.
Yes, there will be arguments on where to draw the line, on grey areas. And? Is that too much work for you, you lazy idiot? Too bad; so sad.
If you try to reduce it to black and white, you're not a bigger person, more tolerant - you're reneging on your responsibilities to think about the world.
It's always more complicated than you want it to be. Deal.
