Mickey Mouse was laughing at him.

The guy in the costume had found them wandering around trying to find their way back to the rafts off the island. John had been starting to feel like he was on some childish version of Survivor, only they were doomed never to be voted off. So he hadn't questioned what Mickey was doing away from the mainland.

Just as long as no one ever mentioned that he'd had to be rescued by a Disney character again, it would be fine.

By the time they made it back to Frontierland, the sun was near the horizon, and workers were cordoning the area off for the parade. "But we need to get back to Cinderella's castle for dinner!" John exclaimed.

"Sorry, I think we're going to miss it." Ianto was so smug. Just like Mickey Mouse.

"But we have a reservation!"

"Perhaps if you hadn't been lost..."

"Perhaps," John ground out, "if you hadn't felt the pressing need to stop and rest right then and there."

"Is it really so important to have supper with a princess?" Ianto asked. "Are you not, in fact, princess enough--or, dare I say it--queen enough to satisfy our royalty quota for the day?"

John pouted. "I also really need to pee."

Somewhere, just on the edge of audibility, John thought he heard the sound of youthful, cartoonish laughter.
