She'd drowned herself in getting ready and making sure she looked as good as possible. Her Goddess costume fell mid-calf and the heels made her legs appear to go on forever. Her hair was swept up with curls falling down around her face.
Laura arrived just ahead of Bill, and she waited outside for him.

As he walked up the driveway, scanning the crowd that trickled in (also dressed in costume), he smiled and immediately made his way towards the red haired woman waiting outside.
"Hey," Bill said, as he came closer. "So we made it after all. You look..." He trailed off, as all coherent thoughts flew out of his head at the sight of Laura in her costume, and those godsdamned legs.
"Wow," was all he could manage to say.
Smooth, Husker. Reeall smooth.

She moved to him, just needing to hug him after her talk with Athena, and she wrapped her arms around him. "You look really good in your costume," she chuckled against his ear.

He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Then my showing up here in practically a skirt was worth it," he told her, with a quick kiss to her cheek. "Though I can't believe the ancient people of the Colonies actually wore clothing like this."
Reply
"Emperor suits you, Bill. And I have a feeling that our costumes are strikingly authentic."
Reply
"If you say so," he told her, brushing a stray curl from her face. "I'm only going on what little Colonial history they managed to cram into my head at school." He looked almost sheepish. "In other words - pardon my language - frak all."
He kept an arm around her waist. "Shall we go in?" he asked. "It's starting to get a little chilly out here."
Reply
As they walked inside, she looked around at all the people in their different costumes. "I have to say this Bill, you aren't the most ridiculous looking person here."
Reply
"Miss Laura, look, I'm Batman! Guess what else? I--" his voice trailed off. He came to a dead stop in front of her when he noticed the big man next her. He moved closer to Laura's side, looking up at him curiously with wide eyes.

Kneeling down, she realized she had no idea who or what 'Batman' was, but she could pretend. And he had a cape, so she figured he had to be a super hero. "Oh, you make a very good Batman, Teddy," she smiled.
When he looked up at Bill, she smiled. "This is my friend Bill, Teddy." She stood up with one hand on Teddy's shoulder. "Bill, this is my friend Teddy."

"Hi," he said softly, leaning against Laura. His expression turned curious. "How come you're wearin' a sheet?"
Reply
He smiled a little at the kid's question. "Because a long time ago, people used to wear clothes very much like these," he told Teddy. "And," he added, with a quirk of an eyebrow, "Miss Laura seemed to think it was a good idea."
Reply
"I'm Batman, did you know? Guess what else? I have a 'miliar named Peek Boo, but she can't go to school, only me. Miss Laura makes me do letters an' numbers, but she has owies so I hafta be careful, Sev'us said."

Then spoke up to Bill and Laura. "Emperor. Lady Goddess." A formal bow given. Why not? It was fun. Then Zak looked to the little guy, "Caped crusader. Hello."
Reply
He heard Zak's voice, and stood up (trying not to curse his old bones as he did so) to greet his son. It took some effort not to laugh at his boys (how in the worlds did someone persuade Lee to get dressed in that?), but he managed to keep a serious expression on his face.
He nudged Laura gently. "Look who we have here, my lady," he said to her. "A pair of Colonial warriors." He folded his arms, and looked at them over the top of his glasses. "Greetings."
Reply
"Very nice legs," she smirked.
