She hadn't really wanted to show up after her visit with Athena, but she'd promised Bill that she would, and she didn't want to disappoint him. She decided that she wouldn't tell anyone about that; about Athena. The whole thing had upset her.

She'd drowned herself in getting ready and making sure she looked as good as possible. Her Goddess costume fell mid-calf and the heels made her legs appear to go on forever. Her hair was swept up with curls falling down around her face.

Laura arrived just ahead of Bill, and she waited outside for him.

It didn't take that long for Bill to arrive, cursing a little as he tugged at the long purple cloak of his costume. It seemed like a good idea at the time, to match with what Laura said she would be wearing - but he couldn't help feel a little ridiculous wearing what was essentially a very long skirt.

As he walked up the driveway, scanning the crowd that trickled in (also dressed in costume), he smiled and immediately made his way towards the red haired woman waiting outside.

"Hey," Bill said, as he came closer. "So we made it after all. You look..." He trailed off, as all coherent thoughts flew out of his head at the sight of Laura in her costume, and those godsdamned legs.

"Wow," was all he could manage to say.

Smooth, Husker. Reeall smooth.

Laura turned to face him and smiled. "You don't think it's too much? Or...rather, too little?"

She moved to him, just needing to hug him after her talk with Athena, and she wrapped her arms around him. "You look really good in your costume," she chuckled against his ear.

Bill swallowed, trying to get a hold of himself again. "On you?" he said. "It's fine." He gave a rather boyish grin. "Anything shorter...will have remain between you and me."

He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Then my showing up here in practically a skirt was worth it," he told her, with a quick kiss to her cheek. "Though I can't believe the ancient people of the Colonies actually wore clothing like this."

Laura smiled softly and almost told him what had happened earlier, but she held her tongue.

"Emperor suits you, Bill. And I have a feeling that our costumes are strikingly authentic."

Bill was about to tease her about the 'direct line to the Gods' again - but there was something that made him refrain.

"If you say so," he told her, brushing a stray curl from her face. "I'm only going on what little Colonial history they managed to cram into my head at school." He looked almost sheepish. "In other words - pardon my language - frak all."

He kept an arm around her waist. "Shall we go in?" he asked. "It's starting to get a little chilly out here."

Laura couldn't help but laugh a little, and she took his arm.

As they walked inside, she looked around at all the people in their different costumes. "I have to say this Bill, you aren't the most ridiculous looking person here."

The minute Laura stepped through the door, Teddy barreled toward her, wiping the frosting from his mouth with the back of his hand as he went. Sev'us had told him not to get anything sticky on anybody else or he'd have to go bed and he didn't want to go to bed. It was too exciting to sleep!

"Miss Laura, look, I'm Batman! Guess what else? I--" his voice trailed off. He came to a dead stop in front of her when he noticed the big man next her. He moved closer to Laura's side, looking up at him curiously with wide eyes.

Laura smiled widely at Teddy, feeling her heartstrings tug a little. He reminded her of someone from long ago.

Kneeling down, she realized she had no idea who or what 'Batman' was, but she could pretend. And he had a cape, so she figured he had to be a super hero. "Oh, you make a very good Batman, Teddy," she smiled.

When he looked up at Bill, she smiled. "This is my friend Bill, Teddy." She stood up with one hand on Teddy's shoulder. "Bill, this is my friend Teddy."

Teddy caught his lower lip between his teeth, looking shyly at Bill. Sev'us was taller, but Bill was lots bigger.

"Hi," he said softly, leaning against Laura. His expression turned curious. "How come you're wearin' a sheet?"

So, this was the infamous Teddy. Bill knelt down, so he was closer to the boy's height. "Hello, Teddy," he said. "That's a very nice costume you're wearing."

He smiled a little at the kid's question. "Because a long time ago, people used to wear clothes very much like these," he told Teddy. "And," he added, with a quirk of an eyebrow, "Miss Laura seemed to think it was a good idea."

Teddy giggled. Bill was nice and not so scary when he wasn't so tall.

"I'm Batman, did you know? Guess what else? I have a 'miliar named Peek Boo, but she can't go to school, only me. Miss Laura makes me do letters an' numbers, but she has owies so I hafta be careful, Sev'us said."

After starting the imbibing with Lee, Zak figured it was time to head over toward their father and Laura..and a pipsqueek. In a cape. That was funny. Zak laughed and looked over to the other Spartan in amusement.

Then spoke up to Bill and Laura. "Emperor. Lady Goddess." A formal bow given. Why not? It was fun. Then Zak looked to the little guy, "Caped crusader. Hello."

Bill couldn't help but chuckle. "Well then, I hope Miss Laura gets better real soon," he said. "She tells me you're real smart," he added in a low whisper to the boy.

He heard Zak's voice, and stood up (trying not to curse his old bones as he did so) to greet his son. It took some effort not to laugh at his boys (how in the worlds did someone persuade Lee to get dressed in that?), but he managed to keep a serious expression on his face.

He nudged Laura gently. "Look who we have here, my lady," he said to her. "A pair of Colonial warriors." He folded his arms, and looked at them over the top of his glasses. "Greetings."

Laura was amused with Teddy and Bill's conversation, and when Zak approached in his costume she couldn't hold back a chuckle.

"Very nice legs," she smirked.

"Apparently, it runs in the family." Quipped the youngest, pointedly looking at his father in his own leg-showing skirt thing. Then he looked over at Lee, grinning. Poor Apollo.
