Snape caught fabric and held it as though it were alive and ready to bite.
"You are not leaving the house wearing nothing but these, Potter," he said, looking distastefully at the hosiery. "It's obscene!"
While he and Potter had not made any kind of formal declaration to one another that they were a 'couple', it was implied. One did not let one's significant other parade around town in something so...tight!
Harry's lips twitched as he pulled out the unitard that went on under it and a pair of thick beige tights. The shoes were resting in the bottom of the bag, and Harry left those alone for now, along with the thin black cloth to go over his eyes. "Nothing'll be showing. I promise. You're not the one who's going to wearing it."
Harry kicked the other bag on the floor over to Snape and grinned. "You'll be wearing that.
When Snape didn't immediately reach into the bag, Teddy bent down and began pulling things out for him. "Look it! You get a cape too! And this goes on your head like mine, see?" Teddy told him excitedly. "Put it on Sev'us!" he added, bouncing up and down.
Snape held up the pants, pleased that they were weren't tight like Potter's. And it was mostly black, which wasn't so much of a change from what he'd worn the majority of his life. The belt was garish, but he could put up with it. He balked at the mask. Masks evoked memories he didn't wish to relive.
"Sev'us!" Teddy whined when he'd stood staring at the mask in his hand for too long, "Play with me!"
Harry bit his lip at the look and grabbed Teddy around his waist, flipping him upside in a single fluid motion that set the boy screaming with laughter in protest. He glanced up at Snape, worried about what he was thinking.
"You really don't have to wear it," he said, dodging a flailing foot.
"All but the mask," Snape conceded. "At least the pants won't show every contour of my body, not that it actually has any to speak of, unlike someone in this room.
He arched his brow at Harry.
Snape was trying to get past the moment, not wanting to ruin things for Teddy.
"Speaking of which, why don't you try on your costume," he said, smirking at Harry. "So I can examine your contours before agreeing to leave the house with you."
Amused, Harry picked up the bag with the rest of his costume and held it up. "Teddy does have a point. Yours might actually fit over your clothing right now. Mine..." Harry simply grinned. "I think I'm going to like that conversation."
Snape reluctantly put on his costume, muttering the entire time. When everything was finally in place, he went to the mirror to see the damage.
He was pleasantly surprised that he didn't entirely foolish. He adjusted the cape, pulling it around him. It almost looked like robes. He could have done without the fake pectoral muscles, but it did look better than his own sunken chest.
Teddy didn't bother knocking, just burst into the room, jumping up on the bed to look at him. "You look like me now! Put on your hat!"
"No hat," Snape said, grabbing Teddy around the middle and carrying him out of the room under his arm.
"But I wanna see the hat!" Teddy whined, but he didn't fight his way out of Severus' hold.
Harry sneaked out of his room quietly after they went by and snagged himself a fistful of Snape's cape and followed him out. He put a finger to his lips to tell Teddy to keep quiet once he was spotted, but that didn't stop Teddy from giggling.
"It's horrific," Snape argued, stepping back to look at Harry.
"You look like you fell into a giant vat of Christmas cheer," he said, his eyes traveling down Harry's body. The spandex was appallingly tight, but he was having a hard time finding anything wrong with that.
He unconsciously licked his lips, his eyes darkening.
"Nothing wrong with that either," Harry chuckled, wrapping a wad of Snape's cloak around his wrist. He tugged Snape close to him and grinned beatifically.
"Holy abs of steel, Batman, do I pass inspection already?"
"It may just become your new house uniform," Snape smirked, putting his hands on Harry's waist. "I wonder how it would look without the red bit," he murmured, his thumbs brushing across the material.
Teddy quickly pushed his way between them, holding tightly to Peek Boo. "Can Peek Boo have a costume too?" he asked, holding her up to Harry. "But not a dog," he said quickly.
"Course not. That'd be mean," Harry agreed, eyes glittering in amusement. He lifted Teddy up in his arms and settled him in between them. "We'll go look tomorrow for the perfect costume. All right?"
"Kay." Teddy stuck his nose in Peek Boo's fur and grinned shyly.

Snape ignored Teddy, his eyes on Harry. "Then we'll discuss what it is I'm getting if I attend this party with you."

Even as a child he didn't dress up for Halloween, it seemed just as silly now as it then. More so.
And yet he was going to the bedroom to change, Teddy gleefully 'flying' around the room behind him.

The truth was, he didn't want to turn around. He wanted to see Potter, but he wasn't certain about Potter seeing him.
Grabbing the edges of his cape, he wrapped it around himself in a dramatic fashion before turning to face Harry.

"See? Not all that bad is it?" Harry asked, stepping forward to finger Snape's gloves.
