Lulu was driving Maxie, Clarice, and River to the Halloween store in Toronto. It was exciting. Lulu wasn't sure what she was going to be yet, but she loved Halloween.

"So do you all know each other?" she asked as she turned off the highway.

Sitting quietly in the back seat, Clarice folded her hands tightly in her lap. "I-I've only talked to Maxie before on the forums..." she volunteered, glancing between the two blonds.

Maxie was, as always, blunt. She was working on tappering that off somewhat. Key word being working. "No. Don't think so." Maxie was looking at Clarice particularly, "You really are purple." Maxie said with wonder and a grin, "That is just so awesome." It wasn't as if she came across a purple girl in the flesh... ever! "Maybe we should have worn name tags and watch it, Lulu!" the blonde screamed slightly, pointing to the squirrel in the road.
River had been a bit silent since her return to (in)sanity. Things still jumbled about in an uncomfortable way and she wasn't sure if going out was the best immediate option. Staring out the window, she pressed her forehead against the glass, scanning the world. "Searching for a disguise," she murmured. "Always looking for a mask..."

Lulu slowed down slightly, waiting for the squirrel to dart out of the road.  "I'm not going to hit it, Maxie," Lulu said, rolling her eyes as the squirrel ran away.  "Introductions, then?  Clarice, River, Maxie." Lulu pointed to each of them as she said their names.  She glanced in the rearview mirror at River, concerned.

Clarice tried to smile at Maxie, but the girl's words only prodded already heightened nerves. Going into a sizable city, she was sure to attract plenty of stares; hopefully it would be restricted to stares.  Hoping to distract herself, she edged a little closer to River, hesitating before reaching out to touch her friend's hand. "River? Are - are you okay?"
Startled by the touch, River turned to Clarice with a dazed stare before it melted into a half-aware smile. "Chipper. We're going to buy masks."

"Whatever, Lulu. You so would have hit it if it wasn't for moi." Maxie mirrored the other blonde's roll of eyes and turned behind her to the other two girls, once more.

"Nice to meet you both and not really masks. Whole outfits. Sound neat?" She addressed River. Who, to Maxie, seemed perhaps... slow?
"Would not," Lulu said, pulling into the parking lot.  She picked a spot not too close to other cars because of her love for her car.  Shaking her head very slightly at Maxie, she half-regretted not saying anything about River to her.  She wasn't sure what to say, but was at least glad that River had come.  "So do you three know what you want to be for Halloween yet?"

For weeks Clarice had been stumped on this question. She'd never dressed up as a child, though her parents had tried to get her interested. And what did one dress up as that went with her already mutant appearance? But something recently had given her an idea. She blushed, but ventured, "I thought, maybe, um... maybe a pink fairy?"

Maxie shot Lulu a, 'whatever' look and settled back in the front passenger seat just moments before they pulled to the parking lot. "I sort of wanna do a Wizard of Oz character.   Not Dorothy. So overrated. Maybe a cute female version of the Wizard and oh my god, that would be so cute!" To Clarice, Maxie approved of with a grin. "A sexy pink fairy or sort of vanilla pink fairy?"
"Orchid fairy." River's nervous smile became wider when the car jolted to a halt. "Like a flower." Maxie was someone new, but River had a good sense of her the moment they met. Needs attention. Needs beauty. And she was apprehensive about River herself. As they stepped outsided, River focused momentarily on the blonde. "M'not slow."

"She most certainly is not," Lulu said, locking the car.  "I don't know what I want to be.  Maybe a princess.  And Clarice, a fairy is a perfect idea.  By a female wizard do you mean a-" Lulu stopped herself.  She was trying to get along with Maxie.  Asking her if she was going to be a slutty wizard wouldn't exactly help that.
