who: river and ianto what: taking a walk --> earthquake when: a little while before the earthquake (oct 11) where: down main street rating: g status: incomplete
"The tea wasn't broken to begin with. It only needs fixing to make it perfect for whomever wants to drink it." Ianto had tucked River's arm into his own as they walked. It was very pleasant, walking like this.
"But it's innately broken." Because this would make sense -- if something needed fixing to perfection, it must have been broken in the first place. "Logically. It is flawed until you brew it. The uniform fashion is imperfect."
"It's wrong." The fact was that deterring River when she was being this adamant was impossible. "Two adds itself but never creates more than four. Two and the conjugate equal to nothing. The raw ingredients are always the same but the beverage is different. Even the variables don't create a constant reaction."
She stopped Ianto with a hand to his chest, adding in a low, serious voice, "You have a talent above the percentile."
Toshiko actually ended up finding them, running out onto Main Street in search of Owen, or someone who could help her find him. When she spotted Ianto, she ran up, thankful to have found someone she knew and trusted.
"Ianto-" Tosh paused for a moment, getting her breath. "Owen- he- It is back. Whatever got locked away in his head- it's out now. He ran away from me, and we've got to find him-" Tosh looked at Ianto hopefully, sparing a glance for the girl with him.
River observed Tosh curiously for a moment before her new mental system recognized her. "You're his friend!" she exclaimed, dropping Ianto's hand and stepping towards Tosh with a grateful smile. "I -- " River's eyes flitted behind her to the confused tea boy and she made the decision.
"I found him." She swallowed and made sure the lie didn't show on her face. "After the quake. He's not hurt but he is -- I think he hit his head."
When his hands were free, Ianto brought them both to his head, trying to force out the frustration and fuzziness. "The world .. spun and we fell off," he gasped and looked up at Tosh with wide eyes. "She didn't say it. Doctor logic."
Tosh frowned, studying Ianto and slowly taking in the slightly dazed and lost look that was in his eyes.
"Ianto?" She asked, taking his hand, now suddenly worried. "It's Toshiko." She wasn't sure if her friend recognized her, and sighed a little at now having one more person to worry about.
"Thank you," Tosh began again, turning back to the girl. "And I'm sorry, what is your name?" She asked, not able to place the girl at all.
