Spike was trying to pop a wooden chair leg back into its spindle before Buffy and Xander arrived. He'd never cared much for housekeeping, but his room was still something of a mess and he knew Xander would make some kind of inquiry about why some of the furniture wasn't quite standing. As much as Spike would have loved to see Buffy's face as they tried to think up a "proper" explanation for it, he decided that discretion was the better part of valor... or, rather, discretion was the easiest way to make sure there would be continued furniture breakage in his future.
When the chair back nearly fell on his head, he let the wood clatter to the floor and rose to his feet. Wiping his hands against his trouser legs, he decided that if an errant vampire made its way in here, at least he had a way to stake it. "Harris can bloody well stand," he said aloud.
Sitting down in the remaining chair, Spike sighed and reached for his pack of cigarettes. Smoking wasn't allowed in the hotel, but he'd never been one to play by the rules. Plucking a cigarette from the pack, he glanced at Willow and remarked, "They should be here any minute now. You ready for this, Red?"
