Thirteen ran into the house, followed by Hawkeye. Snape and Draco started, but House grabbed Snape by the arm. "Wait. Directions, again."

Draco hovered uncertainly as Sev stopped. He did not want to go into that madhouse alone, but he didn't want to over hear anything that could potentially melt his brain either. Than again he could just use it for blackmail.

Severus glanced at Draco, then sighed. If he couldn't speak freely in front of Draco, then he could speak freely in front of no one.

"One drop. That's all you have in that vial. All you need to do is slip it into his drink. It is oderless and tasteless and the effects are almost immediate. I suggest you wait until the two of you are alone. If he starts spilling his every thought and secret to a room full of strangers, he may never forgive you."

"Why wait? Considering how gossip moves through this town. Why not just let them see the drama first hand. It can be the after supper entertainment."

"You're giving him Veritaserum?" Draco asked in surprise. "Are you sure it won't kill him?" Did it even work on Muggles?

House squinted his eyes at Draco, trying to figure out if he was playing mind games or if he meant it. He couldn't tell. Hell, House suspected it was both.

He moved toward Snape, feeling an odd sense of rage. He hissed, "You said it wouldn't kill him."

"Don't be ridiculous," Severus replied, rolling his eyes at Draco. When House closed in upon him, he held up a hand against his chest. "It's not going to hurt him," he said, trying to reassure House. To do so completely, he would have to reveal what he was, and he wasn't prepared to do that yet.

"I am an expert in this particular field, and if I thought it would hurt him in any way, I'd not let you near it. Stop acting like a fretful woman."

Draco's eyes widened slightly as Sev tried to comfort House. That was strange to watch.

House believed Snape. Really. "I'm not acting like a woman."

Severus looked at Draco, arching his brow in question, as if to ask, "Well, is he?"

"If not a woman than a poof," Draco replied snidely with a smirk, low enough that only Sev could hear him. "Weren't we going inside?"

"Shut up."

Just then, House realized that he had an audience. The stranger hadn't taken off on his run. He just watched them and watched the house. "You haven't left. Why?"

Why hadn't I left yet? Good question. Perhaps because abnormal human behavior intrigued me. I barely understood the ways of typical "humans". I understand enough to fake normalcy, and react in a proper fashion. It was all superficial. Perhaps the raw emotions of these five individuals had baffled me into a statute.

Or, I just really wanted to go into the house. James Wilson lived there. Lifting DNA was so much easier when you're invited.

"Sorry," I smiled, "Rude of me. It was nice to meet you."

I started to leave --

"We haven't met. I don't know your name. But you do know our plans. Can't have that."

"It's Dexter, Dexter Morgan. I promise I won't tell anymore that you're planning to drug your husband after dinner. Our little secret."

"Know what, Dexter, Dexter Morgan, you're invited to dinner. That way, I know you won't tell anymore."
