The Doctor took one last look around then clapped his hands, rubbing them together. He'd been neglectful of numerous things as of late and needed to make amends. Well, the thing in the ravine could no doubt care less that he hadn't been to poke it lately, but Rose was another matter altogether.

Not that he made a habit of poking Rose. Well, not recently.

Which was the problem.

There was a blanket spread out on the grass with a picnic basket sitting in one corner. Inside was fish and chips he'd nicked down to the pier for, wrapped up in paper and tinfoil to keep them reasonably warm. There were two bottles of the Spendactolon's Finest Ale, which he knew Rose liked. He had been keeping them for a special occasion and the Doctor decided that this was just such an occasion. An afternoon with just him and Rose! No Master, nobody needing his attention, no world to save. Just a picnic with Rose.

He hurried back to the TARDIS, throwing open the door. The Doctor considered going to find Rose, but if she didn't want to be found, she could easily lose herself in the uncountable rooms of the TARDIS. Grinning, he jumped to the console, flipping some switches and pulling out an old radio style microphone from under the console.

The Doctor tapped on the microphone to make sure it was on, then grinned.

"Attention Rose Tyler! Rose Tyler can you hear me? Of course you can hear me, silly question. Would Rose Tyler please report to the console room. Rose Tyler, please report to the console room."

He turned off the microphone then bounced on his toes as he waited. A moment later, he turned it on again.

"Uh, you might want to hurry or the chips will get cold!"

Nodding in satisfaction, he waited, hoping she would come because he didn't have a backup plan if she didn't.
