One day, Chase would get out of the habit of almot stealing things from the bookshop.  Today was not that day.  The book hadn't jumped on him like the last one had, but it had jumped out, the cracking leather catching his eye, fading spine reading what looked a lot like Ye Olden Tyme Cookbook. The sudden realization that Uther would quite possibly be preparing a feast for the twins but eating the Medieval equivalent to canned meat again that night had sealed the deal.

The cute blond behind the courter had tried to tell him something as he dashed for the door, but frankly Chase had been too elated to listen. It wasn't that, by most typlical 21st century male assumptions Uther didn't eat well: meat and potatoes in some form or another was considered more than acceptable, but it reminded Chase too much of when anything truly healthy could be afforded back home it had always gone to Molly and Klara first. There were a few times even Karolina had stomached meat after Gert had assured her that there was so little real meat in an In-and-Out Burger that really, she wasn't breaking any personal moral code by eating a "cheeseburger."  Tonight, Uther Pendragon was going to eat like the king Chase wondered if he sometimes wished to forget he was.

At least, that was the plan.

The first thing Chase thought upon opening the book was: 'Where are all the fucking "s"'s?'

The second thing he thought was that he had no idea what an auroch was other than that it sounded painful, and that almost every part of it was edible if the illustrations were to be believed.

"I have no idea what I'm doing."
