The park was an autumnal jungle, bright and exotic, through which one of the oldest predators on earth stalked it's unsuspecting prey. Branches creaked, bowed, supporting the strange weight of the predator that, if it were fully visible, had it's body coiled and draped over an entire copse of trees near the south end of the park, close to the Castle. As it was, all that would have been visible to the naked eye was a girl dressed in jeans and a long shirt, perched on the tip of a bright red and gold branch.

Kanon giggled at the irony, and not a second later, the same mouth shushed her.

"If we're going to play outside against Count D's orders, the least you can do is not give us away, Kanon!
"Sorry, Jun-rei, but the castle is right there."
"Exactly why we should be extra quiet. Now silence, you two, and play or we'll go back to the shop."
"Spoil sport."
"There he is!"

A man in a long, dark trench coat had begun to casually make his way through the trees. The ancient predator grinned, showing rows of pointed, reptilian teeth, and readied to pounce.
