Looks like you need-- a hero!

Who: Perseus Jackson, and... welcome to town?
What: Oh man, it's getting real.
Where: ...not the place you're expecting.
When: right... now.
Why: Because... dimensional rifts and ancient Greek monsters are fun, but sewers in Aternaville are a whole 'nother ball of wax!
Status: Closed? Open? Bad stuff is going down!

Doing his best to ignore the echoing roar of rage that pursued him through the dark, cavernous tunnel, Percy splashed through the murky water, wishing to all the Gods that it was salt water. Any water was better than none, but he hated that this was all he had.

"All right, ugly," he said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his pen. "Time to face the music."

Dark as it was in that sewer, it wasn't difficult to make out the hulking shape of the hellhound silhouetted against the tunnel. And for all his bravado, he wasn't going to lie-- he was pretty freaked out. He hadn't always fared well against hellhounds. "I wish you were Mrs. O'Leary," he muttered, uncapping the pen and swinging Anaklusmos in a wide arc. The hound snarled, and leaped, its claws fully extended. Gritting his teeth, Percy stepped into its path and buried the sword in its shoulder, right up to the hilt. He closed his eyes against the cloud of dust that enveloped him as the monster was destroyed.

Taking deep breaths, he opened his eyes and surveyed the damage. He was still standing-- that was good. And other than the fact that he was covered in monster dust, he seemed to be--

And about then was when something struck him from behind, knocking him face-first into the sewer water.

*~*~*

About a century and five minutes later, the manhole cover at the intersection of Main and Noble burst open, and a figure dragged himself out as fast as he could. Bruised, bleeding, and holding a seriously dented shield over himself, he crawled no more than a yard or two before he collapsed on the pavement, his feet within reaching distance of the open manhole cover.

"Gonna need-- a different sword," Percy groaned, as darkness threatened to claim him.
