When she moved her hand to take her cigar to her lips, he noticed that she was shaking.
The temperature outside was a little chilly, but more than comfortable, so it had to be something internal. It took less than a split second for him to start considering any possible malady, from the most ridiculous to the most common.
A short time later, he realized -- she had found out about what Alucard had done a few days prior, which he knew was causing her a great deal of unrest. So much so that she had called him almost immediately after she could gather her thoughts well enough to speak, thankfully at a time when Wesley wasn't home. They'd spoken for a few hours on the subject -- a conversation that showed exactly how irate she was that he had acted so carelessly with her reputation on the line.
His features shifted from jovial to shyness, then settled quite permanently on concern.
A few moments later, he removed his coat and cautiously moved closer to drape it around her shoulders. "Here, you look like you're cold..." he ventured. In the unlikely event that it was only the weather, he wanted to make sure she wouldn't freeze just because she needed to be away from her room for a while.
Although, now that he was so close, he knew for a fact that it was more than that.
"Is it still so bad...?" he asked in a volume that only she could hear.
