Lily had been adjusting to this small town as well as could be expected. Her son who she hadn't yet conceived was here, she found out that she'd died not long after having him. It was all she could do to try and get along in this strange future without James. She'd gotten a job at the hospital in the emergency room and she was actually finding it good, the muggle and the magical aspects of it.
But it was a rare day off. Lily had volunteered for more shifts than normal as she really didn't have a life outside this place. She got to know her son as much as he could, his best friend had a baby not too long ago, but besides spending time with Harry and Teddy, Lily was the definition of a workaholic.
They had given her a mandatory Sunday off and refused to allow her into the hospital except in case of emergency - hers and not theirs. Lily was trying to figure out what to do with herself. She'd woken early and made herself breakfast in the small kitchenette in her hotel room. She really needed to get a new place.
As it was, Lily had her birthday on her mind as she set out in a winter coat to wander the town. She was turning twenty at the end of the month. It was a landmark to her. She planned on being married by the time she was twenty years old. Helping fight the war. Instead she was in the future in Canada. Lily let out a sigh as she took a seat on a snow-covered bench, wondering why exactly she lacked the ability to figure out how to get home.
