Making new memories...

Kaylee had spent the last week or so trying to get used to this new/old life. Everything in the apartment was either familiar, or at least looked like something she would pick out- the plates in the kitchen, the new clothes in her closet. The third bedroom held things that looked like River's, though Billy had said that River had 'disappeared' a while ago.
She'd read through logs on the computer, and looked at her own diary - hidden under her mattress, just like on Serenity - and had gotten a better sense of what her life was like now on Earth-that-was.
Still, it was strange to be living in a life that she couldn't remember. Kaylee had gone down to the airfield hangar a few times, re-meeting her boss and her coworkers. She'd felt a bit better after getting to work on rebuilding a cooling system for a small plane, but she was still feeling out of place.
So, she was going to see Billy- who, according to her diary, was definitely more than a friend, though Kaylee still wasn't sure how to get that all worked out quite yet.
Kaylee made the short walk down to Billy's house, knocking on his door and biting her lip as she waited.
