Time and Time Again (alone in the dark)

What: Arrival? Awakening?
When: Unknown. Something is wrong with the Master's time sense.
Where: Also unknown. Where is he? What is this place? How long has he been here?

Out of darkness, there was light. Or was it lightness in which there had been a moment of dark, like the blink of an eye, a bashful lowered eyelids' quantity of forgetting?
It liked this.
Once more, there was a man who didn't know who he was. A man with no identity, no past. No idea of the heroism he'd lived, the brief bright flame that had been his life. Only blank and empty, ready to be led in a twisted dance by his invisible shadow. Wandering a street, looking into alleys as though he could find his memories there.

The Master was not pleased.
He couldn't help thinking that he had woken up just like this, in this very alley, before.
That was the trouble with being a Time Lord; a wonky, not altogether sane Time Lord. He never knew what was his spidey senses tingling and what was delusion. Sometimes, this was fun, but mostly it was a bloody inconvenience.
He shifted stiffly where he lay, and groaned.
