Not a date. No really. Right?

Mar 21, 2010 02:14

WHO: Andy Gallagher and Lulu Spencer
WHAT: Lulu wants to make it up to Andy that she'd forgotten who he was
WHEN: March 20, just before 8pm.
WHERE: Starting at Lulu's house and onward from there
STATUS: Closed and in progress
RATING: PG

To say that Andy felt like a girl for all the time and effort he spent trying to decide what to wear and whether he ought to bring something along with him would've been a gross understatement. He'd decided on jeans and a t-shirt and nixed the idea of bringing flowers or anything like that. Flowers and more than casual dress would've suggested he thought this was a date and even though he might've sort of hoped it was, Andy didn't need or want Lulu to know that. He waited until after he'd smoked a bowl to shower and dress so that he wouldn't smell of marijuana but, unlike most people who preferred their courage in liquid form, Andy liked to smoke his. He just didn't think it would be terribly endearing to the girl if he reeked of pot when he got there.

It was a little cooler outside than he'd expected when Andy went down to the street and hailed a cab. He decided that walking would only make him sweat and then he'd stink all over again. He'd rather smell like pot than sweat. It took an actual effort - that he was unwilling to admit scared him a little - to keep from telling the cab driver that he wasn't going to charge Andy for the ride. Andy needed to practice not doing that, so he sucked it up and handed over some money when the cab pulled up in front of Lulu's place. He might have gone to the store earlier in the day and told the clerk that he'd been shorted fifty bucks change when he'd broken a hundred dollar bill. ...and he might have been lying through his teeth. Whatever, he had to have cash to look like he wasn't a bum, didn't he?

Andy ignored the nervous flutter in his stomach as he knocked on Lulu's door and hoped to hell that he didn't have to forgo the awkwardness of one of her roommates answering it before she cold get to it. Here went eveything, he thought. It was hopefully not going to go all downhill from there. This isn't a date, Gallagher, so calm down, he told himself. Just two friends who happen to be of the opposite sexes hanging out and having some fun. No big deal. Yeah. Right.
