The party had gone late, as a good party should have. Connor had been buzzed, but not quite drunk, so he was actually surprised to hear him ask Kimberly back up to his room. And the surprises didn't end there, because she had actually agreed to it. Figuring he would be grateful for anything at that point, he was hopeful for some kissing, maybe a good makeout.
So waking up on Valentine's morning with his sheets smelling like the perfume Kimberly had worn to the party and her wrapped in his arms was the biggest surprise of all. But a pleasant one just the same, and he smiled to himself as he tilted his head to breathe in her hair. He'd heard the phrase 'getting lucky' before, but he didn't think it ever quite summed up this moment here. After all, only months before, he'd been so desperate just for Abby to notice him as more than her flatmate. When he'd left London with a broken heart, he'd figured he wouldn't be arsed getting emotionally involved with a woman ever again. And yet, here he was. Waking up to a woman who genuinely seemed interested in him. A beautiful, smart, amazing woman who not only seemed to like him, but had definitely wanted him.
Oh, he had it bad. He could see that without a second thought. Closing his eyes to savor the early morning moment just a bit longer, Connor pressed a gentle kiss to a bare shoulder before tucking the blankets more tightly around them both.
