Kimberly had Connor to thank for feeling so much better. With all the medicine he'd brought over, Kimberly had doped herself up for two days and slept more than she could ever remember sleeping in one short stretch of time. All of the rest had gotten her right back in the game again. So, she'd left a post on the forum to let the ladies who'd shown interest know that tonight was the night and where they'd go. She was insanely excited, because Kimberly hadn't had a real girls' night out since high school, the night after junior prom. Some shred of her lost friendship with Shaina felt violated by the idea that she might be replacing it with a new memory, but the rest of her reminded herself that it was okay to move on and Shaina would've been proud of her for being as outgoing as to be the one to suggest it to begin with.
So, she showered, put on the little black dress Lulu had picked out for her on the shopping trip to Toronto, and primped. Shaina's leather jacket looked awesome with the ensemble and Kimberly looked herself up and down in the floor length mirror on the bathroom door far longer than she would ever admit to before heading out to Grade 9 to meet everyone. Time to make new friends, new memories, and have a good time. There would be other times to think about the way the rest of her day had gone; the other things sitting in the back of her mind waiting to be paid attention to. Poor little elephants in the corners of the room. She'd get to them when she got to them, she decided. Tonight was just going to be for fun, she promised herself. No matter what.
