Finn walked through the doors of the hotel slowly, he was about 10 minutes late; his mom wouldn't let him go without a bite to eat for dinner. The woman at the counter looked at him expectedly after he stood in the doorway for a few moments. The jock shrugged at her and continued into the lobby, half expecting Troy to have left due to his lack of ability to arrive on time.
"Hahah, dude, you'd be totally fucked if I wasn't," Finn said with a smile on his face. Nice to put a face to the voice (well, words on a computer screen). "Lucky for you, I am."
He sized up the other guy quickly and gave his approval, signifying that this is a guy that he wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen hanging out with.
Troy laughed at the boy's words. "I probably could've thought of a better way to ask that. But I lucked out anyway."
Troy wasn't used to being sized up, but he was glad he measured up, whatever that meant. "So. They've got a game room with video games, a pool table, and a ping pong table." He grinned. "Of course, if you feel like singing, there's karaoke in the lounge."
"Pool. And ping pong?" He asked, one eyebrow raised. He waited a moment for dramatic effect and continued on. "What the hell are we still doing here? Lets go!"
"Hahah don't know if I'll be doing much singing tonight, you can go ahead though, if you want. I'm not going to stop you," he laughed, waiting for Troy to make a decision of what to do and where to go.
Troy's eyebrows lifted at Finn's words, waiting to see if his reaction was a pleased or horrified one. He smiled at his words. "Yeah, there's a lot to do."
Troy chuckled. "Nah, I'm not in a singing mood." He inclined his head towards the game room. "C'mon. I'll whip your butt at ping pong."
"Man, you really gotta watch what you're saying. That kind of talk is just going to make me want to beat you at it even worse," Finn laughed and followed. "I feel obliged to tell you that I've got a pretty mean serve, its all in the wrist."
As he walked into the gaming area, he looked around and saw a few pool tables, a couple of ping pong tables, a bunch of video arcade games and comfy chairs all around. "You know, I could get used to this," he pondered aloud as he picked up a ping pong paddle.
"Oh, bring it on," Troy said with a grin. "Somehow I'll survive."
Troy gestured as if to say, here's the game room! "You could get used to what? This room? I've wasted way too much time trying to get a high score on that racing game over there." He picked up a paddle. "Come on. Let's see this magical serve of yours!"
"Have you succeeded in this quest of the high scores yet? Because if you haven't you can't give up dude."
"Alright. You better brace yourself. I'll let this one slide for you, just because I'm feeling gracious," he joked. He held the tiny white ball in one hand and hit it with the paddle in the other hand, sending the ball quickly through the air. And then into the net. Finn looked from the ball to Troy and shrugged his shoulders, laughing.
He paused, then went along with it, not telling Troy that that HAD been his real serve, gone horribly awry. After collecting himself, he positioned himself to try again. He hit it softer and higher, making sure it actually went over the net this time. When it did, he let out an inaudible sigh and waited for the return. "Game on!"
Even if Troy had known that was Finn's real serve, he wouldn't have teased him about not doing well. That was too much like insulting him, and Troy was loyal to his friends.
"All right!" Troy said, awkwardly returning the serve. He was out of practice too.
After a while of the pinging and ponging of the ball, Finn put down the paddle. "Alright! I surrender! Maybe I wasn't as good as I said I was," he grinned. "You wanna try some pool? I'm not nearly as good at it as I am at ping pong."
Troy laughed. "It's fine. I'm not as good at it as I said I was either. Sure, let's play pool. I played that once and almost tore the table." Which was true. He chose a cue. "What brought you to Canada, anyway?"
Finn spoke as he set up the heavy balls for pool. "My mom got married to this guy whose mom lives here. Its pretty long and complicated, actually. Do you want to break or me?" He pulled the triangle off of the now formed group of balls. "It sucks but its okay at the same time. I dunno, dude."
"Yeah, family stuff can be." Troy didn't need to know, especially since this sounded private. "Mm, I'll break so you can laugh at me." He broke, and the only ball in any pocket was the cue. Troy chuckled.

At Finn's warning, Troy bent low, ready to move back and forth. He laughed a little at Finn's good-natured shrug and laugh.
"You don't have to take it easy on me, man," Troy said with a grin. "I can handle your real serve."
