Well, if that wasn't the oddest thing Ianto's seen to date he... it wasn't the oddest thing Ianto's seen to date. Erm. It was the oddest thing he's seen today, at least.
Ianto had taken over the coffee shop with typical bustling cheerfulness and a good deal of sarcasm and frankly had been enjoying himself greatly with the organization of things. The staff had been confused at the minibonfire of teabags, but since Ianto was the boss, they had dealt with it as they saw fit, which was to smile and nod. But the gent coming out of his storage closet..? He was fairly certain that wasn't supposed to happen. Especially as he had been in said closet ten minutes before the man came out and nothing but coffee shop supplies had been in there.
The fact that the woman knew this man wasn't strange for this town. When they sat, Ianto set down his clipboard (he rather liked clipboards) and picked up a notepad and wandered over towards the pair. "Ah, hallo. Can I get you anything...?"
It really wasn't the best time. Felix looked confused and several different kinds of distraught, with the added appearance of someone who'd just woken up someplace strange after a night of ambrosia.
"What? Get me .. ?" He looked at Kara, still trying to process the things she'd said. Earth? It then occurred to him to acknowledge where they were, exactly, and the delicious smell of ground coffee and milk. "Uh. Coffee, right?" He looked at Kara inquisitively and then nodded up at the man. "Yeah. Coffee. Please."
Right just what she needed, when Gaeta was in a whacked out mood. The coffee shop guy. "I was waiting to get my drink from the counter girl who was taking way to fraking long. It should be done by NOW."
She hoped that by being nasty enough, he'd go away, at least for now.
Ianto turned towards the woman, eyebrows raised curiously. "Oh, well then I'll fetch you your coffee, shall I?" Despite her nasty tone, Ianto remained serene and drifted towards the counter a little bemused. Sweet girl, that.
Felix rolled his eyes before pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers. If anything, his subconscious had gotten Kara down to the T. He smiled tightly at the man until he drifted away, before raising expressive eyebrows in Kara's direction.
She snorted, in that way that let anyone who was listening that she thought you were soft.
"Look, we didn't need him around while I try to explain that we are on Earth. That this is real, you aren't dreaming, or hallucinating, or hooked up to some fraking cylon machine."
She took one of his hands, "We made it, just a few of us, but we did."
Felix looked up at her without lifting his chin, eyes intense. "Last time you were positive you knew where Earth was, or what truth was, I lost half my leg." Cruel, but necessary. Felix wasn't the type to hold grudges, but he also wasn't the type to forgive indiscriminately.
Kara reared back one fist and punched him in the face. "This feel like a dream to you? I'm sorry about the leg, but if you hadn't..." she trailed off, "This is earth, go look around for yourself."
Oh, that was nice. She just hauled off and hit her friend in the face. The one that climbed out of his storage closet.
Ianto, two cups of coffee in hand, approached their table and slammed the cups down. Naturally, coffee sloshed. "Oi, normally I'm one for women's rights and all that, but he didn't bloody do anything!"
Gaeta's head snapped back and he groaned with the impact, pulling away to rub at his bruised jaw. The cute waiter was back, and Felix had to give him credit for being concerned. "No, no, it's okay. Don't worry about it." He lifted a hand and waved it dismissively in the air. His look toward Kara soured, but the expression was one of exhaustion rather than frustration. "She's just...like that."
Flashing the man a close-lipped smile, he took what he assumed to be his coffee.
"Well, Gamma bloody owns the cafe and if you want to bloody drink coffee in here, you'll damn well have to have my approval to do it, won't you? You hit him!" She was just like that? How was that a sensible thing to say? Ianto stared at the young man and stomped off, shaking his head. He had to fish out his stungun, now. God knows where he stashed the thing.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to hit you that hard. You were just, talking crazy for a while there..." she had the grace to look a little ashamed at her actions.
He massaged his jaw, eying Kara bitterly. He hoped the barista wasn't about to do anything ridiculous -- Kara brought out that side in people. "Crazy? You just told me I'm on frakking Earth and I'm the one talking crazy? Last night, you wouldn't so much as look at me, and now here we are, talking like -- " He ran out of words and instead gestured vaguely, resorting to angrily gulping down his coffee. He stood, seething with a quiet fury. "I'm not dealing with another one of your games, Kara."
Kara finally seemed to look ashamed. "I forgot, it's only been a few minutes for you, and 3 years for me. Look, why don't you ask Gamma over there when he gets back. It's not like we're friends or anything right? He'll tell you the truth."
She groaned and took a drink of her coffee. Of all the people to spit out of the closet... it had to be the guy that had lost his leg because of her actions. Not that it was totally her fault but... whatever, not thinking about it.
Still frowning and still fairly angry at the casual punch thrown in his cafe (in a cafe, for God's sake! If it were Owen's bar, he'd understand, but in a cafe?), Ianto returned bearing a rag to mop up the spilled coffee. His stungun rode as a comfortinging weight in his pocket.
And Ianto glared at Kara as he began to clean up. "Can I get you some ice for your jaw, sir?" he asked.
