"Positive," the Doctor replied, raising his hand and knocking on the door. "She worked for a place called Torchwood. Do a search on your computer, I'm sure you'll access files you aren't supposed to, but you'll see that she's used to the extraordinary. Aliens, alien technology, other various and assorted weird. Some things I'm sure I don't want to know about," he added, shuddering.
Honestly, Torchwood was something he tried very hard not to think about.
Tosh had been extremely surprised by the Doctor's phone call, to say the least. Though, she had to admit, it would definitely be interesting- she'd been rather depressed since Ianto and Owen had disappeared, just sort of going through the motions at work, and not doing much around town.
So, taking in a 'stray computer genius' would definitely make things more exciting.
At the knock, Tosh opened the door, a small smile on her face.
"Hello," she said, nodding at the Doctor before looking at the girl he'd brought along. "Come in, please!"
Dairine listened intently. Torchwood. It didn't sound familiar and a thousand little questions bubbled up in her mind, each fighting the other to surface first. What sort of alien things? What did they do with them? Where was their base? The Doctor had really opened up the proverbial can of worms this time. Dairine took a deep breath, preparing to unleash the torrent of questions when the door opened.
Without really realizing it, Dairine found herself smiling back, her sharp gray eyes softening just a little. Tosh had a nice face and the welcoming smile was enough to convince Dairine that maybe this wasn't going to be too bad. Maybe she was going to like it here! Maybe...
"Uh. Hi." She raised a hand, corner of her mouth twisting up in an awkward smile. "I'm the uh -- genius. Apparently."
Grinning, the Doctor ushered Dairine inside, giving Tosh a hug in the process. "You alright?" he asked, leaning back to look at her. He knew she'd taken Owen and Ianto's disappearance hard, but he hadn't had a chance to talk to her about it.
"Toshiko, this is Dairine. Dairine, Toshiko. Now, I trust that two of you won't hack into the government computers and unleash world war three?" he asked, looking between the two of them.
The Doctor pointed a finger at Dairine. "Behave yourself and keep out of trouble," he warned.
